>A couple of songs on Art Angels deal with environmental issues. Is that something you tend to think about a lot?
I typically don’t make very political music, because music isn’t a very cerebral process for me, its very gut level. But I think I succeeded with the songs ‘butterfly’ and ‘life in the vivid dream’ in creating work that addresses the emotional impact of climate change. The tangible dangers are obvious and real, but i think for young people coming up today, there is a deep emotional horror associated with the knowledge that by the time we’re old our world could be plunged into warfare over resources. I would never have children for this reason, I think this knowledge must effect the youth everywhere. I wanted to analyse that feeling.
